Murray River (30th July)

we have had a good couple of weeks following the Murray river from mildura to Wodonga , first we had at look at some of my old fruit picking camps near Nangiloc and Robinvale, we did try to get on the river to camp there but the weather was wet and most of the camping spots on the Murray are dry weather only when towing a van, so we decided on Nyah camp ground which was just behind the football grounds along side the Murray, it was so nice there we stay for a week having a good look around the surrounding towns, taking in some good walks and bike rides.

There was heavy fog, cold and frosty mornings most of the days there.

from spending a relaxing week at Nyah we then followed the river taking in the towns Swan hill, Kerang, Cohuna, Echuca and along the way, our next stop was Shepparton this is where Robyn and I first met, only briefly 24 years ago, we stayed at the lake side caravan park and explored Tatura, Mooroopna, Rushworth, and Shepparton, Shepparton has really grown since we were last there about 15 years ago I would say doubled and well spread out, where there was pear orchards there is now bunnings and such.
we left Shepparton and went back to the Murray river, Cobram, Yarrawonga having a walk round some of the markets, and camped a few nights along side the river in many great camps until we reached Wodonga where we turned south through Beechworth, Murtleford until we reached our destination, the riverside caravan park.

This is an amazing place with much to offer great walks, waterfalls and rivers to explore, it was 20 years ago I asked Robyn to “marry” me in this very caravan park when we were here picking apples all those years ago.

Hi John & Robyn & Jock
Hum!! bit nippy where you have been. You visited Rip’s stamping ground as a kid. He lived in Merrigum, which isn’t too far from Shep. So we are very familiar with the areas you have visited. I believe there have been a few ‘jack frost’ mornings of late brrrrrrr!!!
    John, your photos brilliant.
Fruit picking ay…..isn’t that how Adam and Eve got into trouble!!!!

Hi Rip and Mary, just as well I’m fussy with my apples 😉
Lovely area of Victoria, could move here……..
Jack frost has visited most mornings, sometimes it is soooooo thick you would think it had snowed, but then the days are perfect 🙂
