Albany,Denmark,Walpole (12th Feb)

After spending a week at Munglinup Beach we traveled west to meet up with John and Ida in Albany, who were kind enough to let us park the van in their driveway hook up to power and water, Thank you too you both for spending the time to show us your Town and all the sites of Albany and surrounds, we also loved meeting your family.
The first day was shopping for a new tablet and some more clothes for Robyn 🙂 and stocking up the fridge and having a few drinks with John and Ida, then we went out for some fish and chips and a tour of Albany at night.

The next day we spent taking in some of the sights starting with the “Gap” and Natural Arch just out of Albany.

we had a few short walks to the blow holes and around the old whaling station that was decommissioned in the late 1970’s, the coast line and the many bays and islands make Albany a very attractive sailing place with lots of small islands poking there heads up just of the beaches.
After some walking around and building up a huge Appetite, John and Ida took us out to tea to the Rustlers steak restaurant where we filled ourselves on great steaks and wine a good night out, we then started early the next day to take in the maritime museum and look at the replica amity sailing ship.

we went out for tea to a great Italian Restaurant that night and enjoyed some great Italian food and wine to top off a great 5 days in Albany, But it was time to move on and thanks for your hospitality and all the trips we went on, if it wasnt for you guy’s we wouldnt have seen half as much as we did 🙂

We didnt go far for our next stop about 60 klm’s west to Denmark and setup camp at the rivermouth caravan park, a quiet park set right along side the river about 2 klm from town with bike tracks all the way following the river.

On the way back i saw a sign saying chocolate latte and swiss chocolates so i pulled in and we had a treat of frothed rich milk and your choice of chocolate to whisk in, i had the dark chocolate and Robyn the cream milk chocolate they were unreal so to finish of we had to sample some of the swiss samples 🙂

So after a relaxing few days in this beautiful town, oh almost forgot if your in Denmark make sure you try the bakery in the middle of town its the best i have been too, everthing there is top notch with over 200 national awards to its name.

we packed up and started towards the giant trees near Walpole while there we went on the tree top walk and enjoyed it, i still think the tasmanian one is better but both have there pros that being the hight of the Kauri’s.
