Esperance (1st Feb)

Hello again, Esperance is everything we expected and more, a beautiful town and even better beaches, we left Kalgoorlie and drove the 400klm south to Esperance a pleasant drive not many hills and the wind was in our favour, when we arrived we booked into a little known spot called the yabby farm, only 3 pwr sites and one ablutions block (thats amenities block) it was a quiet spot not too far from town and the beaches, there we met a great couple from Scotland, Rodger and Kath, we will one day be knocking on their door in Scotland for a BIG whisky tour 🙂

we had a good night sampling Scotch Whiskey, while based at the yabby farm we took a drive east to Duke of Orleans where we went for a swim on the beaches.

As you can see in the pic’s these beaches are amazing the water is so clear and warm too, after spending the day lounging on the beaches at Duke of Orleans we headed home for some much need refreshments, the next day we left Jock with caravan and went into the Cape Le Grande National Park and wanting to stretch the legs we decided to climb Frenchman Peak this was about a 3 hour walk return (that included a number of stops to take in the magnificent views) this would have been the steepest climb we have done straight up on a good rock face so grip was ok, we were worried about getting down.

It was a great walk and we had a good look around the National Park, Lucky Bay and Cape Le Grand Beach where you can take the 22 klm drive along the beach back to Esperance.

The next day was just a walk around town and some much needed shopping we had a look at some of the beaches close to Esperance and they are just as amazing.

as you can see we spent most of our time at the beach, i guess we hadn’t been on one since way back in Elliston, i also took some nice shots of waves forming and breaking on the reef.

Esperance is one Town we could easily live in, we really enjoyed our stay there but it was time to move on and wanted to do some camping without pwr, we decided on a out of the way place called Munglinup Beach about 25 klm of the hwy with some dirt tracks thrown in we drove up to the camping sites on the beach and was amazed that there was only the one spot free, so we quickly dropped the caravan into place and settled back with a couple of cold ones.

It didnt take long before we started talking to our fellow campers there and what a great bunch they were, we especially hit it off with 6 of them, 3 couples Bob and Lyn, Rip and Mary, and George and June, we were only going to stay for 3 nights but stayed on for 5 nights such good company with lots of drinks and good stories, the last two nights we had guests come down and play guitar and have a sing along, once at our camp and once at the Caravan park (they were the owners of the park).

We are currently near Robe leaving on Sunday, slowly heading to Kyabram, we are going to leave the van there and travel down to Seymour for the day to see the Vietnam Veterans wall. All is well with us, time is flying for us we will be back home before we know it. Travel safe.
