Port Fairy (4th Nov)

Hello again
We have moved further west to a coastal town called Port Fairy just past Warrnambool at the western end of the Great Ocean Road, we decided to set up camp for 3 day’s in the Bellfast cove caravan park, a little expensive but a nice park to base ourselves for a look around.
Port Fairy has a lot of history being one of the oldest whaling ports in Australia, named by the crew of the Fairy whaling boat in 1828.

We even saw a seal just of the boat jetty catching some fish for dinner, we saw him while having the best fish and chips ourselves.

After walking around this little town all day we can understand how the town won the most livable place in Australia 2012, it is peaceful and has all the old buildings, beautiful beach with small personalized shops, not seeing any of the big franchises here.
The second day we went for a drive to have a look at Warrnambool, the first stop was Flagstaff hill this is a little replica of the way things used to be in the 1800’s a small village reconstructed to show how it was when Flagstaff hill was used as a major port and communication center before arriving in Melbourne.

We really liked Warrnambool a large City 35,000 population has great beaches, parks and a lake between the ocean and city, there are many new subdivisions being built and i can see this place becoming even more popular than it already is now.
after spending the last day having walked the rest of Port fairy we decided to leave the coast and head inland to a free campsite on the top of a couple of great waterfalls near Wannon, the first pic is just 100 meters from our campsite and the second falls (Nigretta) is a couple of klm’s down the road, this is a good place to kick back and take in a bit of bush camping and also free to stay here.
